ARCS/DRCS assured to look into problems
NAHARLAGUN, Feb 4: The Minister for Cooperation and Civil Supply Tanga Byaling today assured to consider the problem/ profile presented by the ARCS/ DRCS in a review meeting as very urgent and discuss the matter with the Minister of Planning, Minister of Finance and CM as soon as possible.
Addressing a review meeting conducted by the State Cooperative Society, Naharlagun here today Byaling said that the word ‘Cooperative’ itself means everything hence such review meeting is very important to understand the problem of the department and bring about coordination and cooperation amongst the officers so that they can work for the benefit to the people.
The meeting discussed the district profiles presented by all the ARCS/ DRCS which includes over and under staff in one district, fund position, developmental work of the Society, audit position and problem of Society in the field of establishment, Cooperative Union and miscellaneous items.
Encouraging the Society for such meeting, the Parliamentary Sec. for Coop. Nido Pavitra noticed the problems faced by the ARCS/ DRCS of all the districts and also assured to take upon the problem to the concerned authority. He also assured the officers to look into the matters on pending liabilities as early as possible.

He said the Cooperative Movement which was started from North East way back in history is not doing so well in its developmental work as compare to other state. ITANAGAR, Feb 4: Deployment of central forces in Arunachal Pradesh for civilian assignment is slowly turning out to be an emotional issue after recent Daporijo incident where local public clashed with CRPF jawans.
This incident comes in the wake of last year’s Christmas Day experience when CRPF personnel were again allegedly involved in a brawl with locals at Roing town. Both these happenings highlight the fact that deep down the line central forces have not been able to win the hearts of natives of the state.
Circumstances under which both the incidents took place, finger points towards the attitude of CRPF jawans. Being well trained force, they are expected to set high standards in dealing with demanding situations but on both the occasions their act has in fact deteriorated the whole picture. Also in a state like Arunachal, where numbers of crime rate are less as compared to other regions, deployment of central forces for law and order situation is like indirectly questioning capabilities of state police forces. Many of the citizens, with whom this reporter caught up, believe that presence of central forces in the street of Arunachal is not a healthy sign.
Most of them were of the view that these forces do not understand culture and traditions of the local people.
“During one of the local festival I was driving down to Nirjuli in my traditional dress and was carrying a ‘Dao’ as tradition. ITBP forces stopped me near Model village at Naharlagun and started questioning me as to why I was carrying ‘Dao’? Despite my explanation they harassed me a lot,” informed one of the residents of Naharlagun, who wished to remain anonymous.
Another aspect which hurts local sentiment is the foul language used by jawans of central forces. “Even if we are driving with our sister and mother, these uniformed men use abusive language not even caring about them,” lamented a citizen.
All the concerned citizens opined that state police should take lead role in maintaining law and order in the entire state. “Our government should avoid dependency on central forces and instead use state police for maintaining order in the society. For this our police force should be better trained,” told Tarak Eha, who is a legal adviser cum spokesperson of All Papum Pare District Student Union (APPDSU).
If one visits some of the hospitals in capital complex, emergency ward staff will tell about those people coming with injurious caused by beating at the hand of central forces. “I myself had handled two cases of patients coming with grave injuries after they were thrashed by jawans of central forces. Reasons being petty one like wrong parking of bike or riding without helmet,” informed one of the doctors of a city hospital.
There is a growing anger among citizens of Arunachal about the repeated incidents of central forces troubling local citizens. State government needs to take notice of this sentiment and make sure that incidents like that of Daporijo and Roing should not happen again. People of this state are peace loving and had always shared strong rapport with central forces and army.
Being citizens of border area, Arunachalees truly understand value of these forces and expect them to respect local sentiments too.

NHPC earns profit after tax of over Rs 1700 crore
ITANAGAR, Feb 4: During the nine months ended 31.12.2009, NHPC Limited has registered profit after tax of Rs 1700.35 crore as against Rs 1047.86 crore for the corresponding previous period. The sales of Corporation have increased to Rs 3579.60 crore from Rs 2234.89 crore for previous period. The increase is mainly due to earlier year sales arising out of finalization and revision of tariff in respect of power stations, says a release.

AAPWU demands health care centre, rest house for labourers
ITANAGAR, Feb 4: Highlighting the hardship faced by the working community in the state, All Arunachal Pradesh Workers Union (AAWU) has submitted a memorandum to the chairman, APB & OCWB for quick redressal of their grievances.
While emphasizing the need of separate cooperative shops for the working class for purchasing ration items, the union alleged that labourers are even sidelined from the queue whenever they go for purchasing ration items from cooperative shops.
Further, the labourers with limited earnings can not afford to go for any treatment in private run hospitals due to cost factor while Govt. hospitals are time bound. Hence, a separate health care centre at Itanagar along with ambulance for this working class people is an urgent need, the memorandum said. It also urged the APB & OCWB for construction of Rest House at Itanagar for the visiting labourers from out side the state capital, who can not afford to lodge in hotels.
Meanwhile, AAPWA has appointed Techi Tara as Working President, Changma Tajo as Secretary General of AAPWA and PD Jamchampa and Sartam Tallang as President and Advisor of the Association’ West Kameng unit.

Earlier, in his welcome address, ZPM Chairperson Rongnai Maham asked Panchayat leaders to cooperate with executing agencies to make the total sanitation programme successful in the district adding that the Panchayat members must inculcate work culture in the villages. Education Minister’s mother passes away
PASIGHAT: Yasi Siram mother of Education Minister Bosiram Siram breathed her last at the age of 75 this morning at her native village, Yagrung near Pasighat.
She is survived by five sons and four daughters.
Meanwhile, DC Onit Panyang, DDSE M Kadu and DIPRO O. Pertin expressed deep shock at the demise of the Minister’s mother in their condolence message.
